New Year, New Closet Staples

It's a New Year and you know what that means.  Time to start afresh and make sure you have all of your closet essentials. You may not know what they are, but that's why I'm here. Here are the top seven.
For starters everyone needs a white v-neck or scoop neck t-shirt.  I cannot stress enough how important these are.  They are so important for your everyday wardrobe, even though you probably have one or two.  The reason they're so important is because they can be worn with anything, dressed up or dressed down. You can wear them with jeans, flats and a cardigan(which are also very important).  Or with a floral skirt, sandals, and a belt.  The possibilities are endless which is why they are so important.
Another equally important closet essential is a  pair of flattering dark-washed jeans.  They can also be worn with anything, dressed up or down they are very versatile.  Make sure they are comfortable and not to tight otherwise you'll want to rip them off ASAP(trust me I know from experience).  But overall comfortable, dark-washed, flattering jeans are another important closet staple.
Leather Jackets are one of my favorite closet staples.  The reason being they add an extra touch of edge to every outfit.  A good leather jacket shouldn't be overly tight or baggy otherwise it wont look good.  They're so much more versatile and chic than a hooded sweatshirt, not to mention warmer.  If you're anything like me you crave that edge and twist on an otherwise girly outfit.
A little black dress or LBD for short is one of the most classy pieces you can own for various reasons.  For one it can be worn casually if it's the right shape and paired with the right accessories and shoes.  An example of this is a leather jacket, strapless body-con LBD,converse, and simple silver accessories.   Or it can be worn formally if again its paired with the right accessories and shoes.  An example of this is a hi-lo hem LBD, black pumps, and gold accessories.  The versatility of the LBD is amazing.
Ballet flats are another one of the top ten.  Ballet flats are so important because like most of this stuff can be worn with just about anything.  You can pair it with a simple outfit like jeans and a plain t-shirt or if your not a heel type of girl with a formal dress.  Ballet flats are so amazing because they come in so many different colors, patterns, and decals (I've seen one of my friends donning a cheetah print pair with ruffles and studs).  Or you can for a more simple pair in nude or black.  Either way ballet flats are one of the best types of footwear.
A black blazer is also another one of my favorites.  The reason being is just like a leather jacket adds edge these add class.  Now you may be thinking only businesswomen and men wear them, but not true.  They can add a touch of seriousness to the outfit when needed.  They can be worn with almost any and every outfit and that's what makes them so awesome.
The final closet essential is a long-sleeved, button-up shirt.  They seem unlikely but when you think about it you can wear it open over a graphic tee with the sleeves rolled up with jeans and converse for a casual look.  Or you can wear it buttoned up with jeans and oxfords for a classy modern take on the average uniform.  They are classy and casual and come in a variety of different styles, colors, and patterns.  In finality button-ups are an unlikely yet very important essential.
